xAI Musk has filed a lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI
Elon Musk's AI startup xAI has filed a lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI, accusing them of an "anti-competitive scheme." They allegedly conspired to maintain a monopoly in the smartphone and generative AI markets, according to the document.
The lawsuit claims that Apple intentionally lowers the rankings of so-called "super apps" and competing AI-based chatbots in the App Store, prioritizing OpenAI due to the integration of ChatGPT into the company's products.
Sam Altman noted at the time that he had heard about the entrepreneur's manipulations in X to promote his own interests and the needs of his companies to the detriment of competitors and people he does not like.
Some users noticed that the DeepSeek and Perplexity products ranked first in the App Store after the announcement of the partnership between Apple and OpenAI.
The lawsuit has become another twist in the development of the conflictual relationship between Musk and Sam Altman. They, along with others, founded OpenAI, but the head of Tesla eventually left in 2018 due to disagreements regarding the company's direction and founded his own AI startup xAI.
In August 2024, Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Altman, accusing them of violating the company's founding agreement. They allegedly prioritized commercial interests over the public good.
In December, the entrepreneur urged the federal court to stop the transformation of the ChatGPT developer into a fully commercial business.
Recall that in August 2025, the XAI gaming network based on Ethereum accused xAI of trademark infringement and unfair competition.
